I decided to try a plant-based diet 2 months ago and I am clicked into it.

Initially, I want to write my “journey” of going vegan. One day, I accidentally watched the documentary “Game changers” with my mother. After this day, my life has literally changed. This documentary demonstrates how a plant-based diet can heal many diseases, the side effects of animal foods (meat, eggs, and milk products), the importance of eating plant foods, and how delicious vegan foods are. There are a lot of misconceptions about veganism, such as vegans can’t get enough nutrients, they have a protein deficiency, plant-based foods are boring and not tasty, and so on. My insight was like this before I watched “Game changers”. I have never thought that I can ignore meat. People just naturally think that meat is crucial for human beings and they will never be vegan or vegetarian. But this is not hard as they think. Honestly, it is way more interesting and satisfactory.

There are many reasons to choose a plant-based diet. Compare with meat-eaters, vegans’ average lifespan is longer, vegans are more unlikely to have cancer, and have more energy. That’s why a huge number of athletes are vegan. I am feeling more energetic since I have started eating plant foods. Moreover, the meat and milk industries are harmful to our world more than you think. They consume too much water and energy to grow animals. The reason why most people don’t know about it is that these industries invest in many organizations. Obviously, I eat without killing animals by someone is the most comforting reason.

Let’s look at the good results I experienced. Same as other teen girls, I used to try to lose weight and I was stressed about dieting. Since I have decided to eat plant foods, I gradually lost weight. Now I eat a lot but I don’t gain weight. My metabolism improved because plant foods have a lot of fiber. Also, ignoring milk products makes my skin greater. My health improved mentally and physically. I think it was one of the most right decisions I have ever made.

The disadvantages are due to other people. My mom and I are the only ones in our social circle adopting such a lifestyle. It is difficult to interpret to people that “I am okay”.

To conclude, this journey is very interesting and nourishing. Despite what others think wrongly, I will go vegan forever.
